The thing I love about Gilmerton House is having so much to work with in one place. The house looks great on film, there’s plenty of space in the grounds, and you don’t have to go far to get a few shots of the two of you. Meghan and Tom’s wedding is a great example — have a watch below.

A wedding at Gilmerton House

Gilmerton House is near Athelstaneford in East Lothian. What I like about it is that you get the character of the house and all that space outside, without the day feeling spread out. It’s a lovely place to spend time with your guests.

Out in the gardens

The garden steps are one of my favourite spots for a few shots. Then you’ve got the lawn with the house behind you — a completely different view, just a short walk away. I like keeping this part of the day easy, so you can get back to everyone else.

On with the celebrations

Once the photos are done, I can get back to filming everyone enjoying themselves. I love the speeches and the dancing, but I’m always looking out for what’s happening in between too. It’s all part of making a film that feels like your day.
